Meet Enviroslug
Enviroslug
Enviroslug is a collective of organizations that advocate for environmental and social sustainability using a student agency model aiming to empower students. Enviroslug approaches different sustainability projects through three organizations funded by students, for students: the Student Environmental Center (SEC), the Campus Sustainability Council (CSC), and the Education for Sustainable Living Program (ESLP). Enviroslug advocates for responsible, transparent, and effective sustainability action across the UC Santa Cruz campus while promoting environmental engagement within the student body. Enviroslug is grounded in student agency, inclusivity, and democracy. We challenge environmental injustices and inequitable power structures within the UC system by centering student leadership and collective action.
Meet the Program Manager
Stephanie Mancilla Palomo
Stephanie is a first generation Mexican American UCSC alumna and the first in her family to earn a college degree. She transferred to UC Santa Cruz and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies, with a concentration in Conservation Science and Policy.
Stephanie began her journey as a member of the Education for Sustainable Living Program, later serving as a course facilitator for the Spring 2023 Speaker Series. When the previous advisor transitioned out, she stepped in to help reunite Enviroslug and worked closely with members to continue advancing sustainability efforts on campus.
In her free time, Stephanie enjoys spending time with her pets, hiking and camping, trying new ethnic foods, and birding.
