The Education for Sustainable Living Program (ESLP) is a collaborative interdisciplinary effort to realize sustainable community throughout the University of California. Students participate in a weekly speaker series and form Action Research Teams (ARTs) in partnership with guest lecturers, faculty, administration, and community members to implement tangible change. Such experiential learning inspires participants to internalize the concept of sustainability, and carry it in practice beyond academia into greater society.

Here's a quick guide to getting started.
The Spring 2008 Monday night schedule, and syllabi for CLEI-61 and 161 are on the main page. Please read them if you have not already, as they contain the assignments, grading criteria, and fundamentals for the course. Information for individual ART and CRAFT sections is being uploaded by facilitators as we speak into the online "courses", so stay tuned, and check in with them about how they intend to use this site or not for their sections. Also on the horizon are the online community chatrooms, photos and forums.
*Note: "Enrolling" in a "course" using this website does not interface with your official UCSC account, registration, or grades. Also, when I say you may "enroll" in other ARTs and CRAFTs online, that means on the website. If you wish to physically drop in on other sections, please first check in with the ART and CRAFT facilitators to see if this is appropriate or not.

Education for Sustainable Living Program at UC Santa Cruz
What we hope to provide with this site is:
- Course Info -- Provide course information for winter and spring ESLPs such as the syllabus and schedule.
- Portfolios of student works -- Provide a place for participants to upload completed papers and projects, and compile them from year to year as the program grows.
- Library of photos, drawings and documents
- Online tools for collaboration -- calendar, discussion forums, chats, and ways to share your portfolio of works with others.
